RVA Readers + Writers is a social organization based in Richmond, Virginia, with a book club that meets both in-person and online. We read a wide variety of genres and are always looking for local authors and community-focused recommendations.
A quick look at our process:
Every three months, we use books suggested on our "want to read" shelf on our bookclubs page to create polls organized loosely by genre. Here, members can vote on books they're interested in reading during the upcoming season, and see which books include the option for the author to attend!
After the polls close and authors are consulted for scheduling, the titles are divided amongst a three month span and the whole quarter is posted on our Instagram feed, the bookclubs messaging board, our discord, etc. The exact dates of the meetings are not necessarily posted at this time.
How to Suggest As a Member:
If you're a member looking to suggest a title, you'll find a shelf entitled "Books We Want to Read" on our bookclubs page. You add books to the list, and from here, we select titles for our quarterly polls. Adding a title doesn't guarantee that it will make it to the voting round, so be sure to add a note to bolster your suggestion and it can be put on the poll listing as well!
Authors, Publishers, and Publicists Suggesting Their Own Books:
If you're suggesting a title as an author or on their behalf, we ask that you fill out this form to provide us with some additional information. Previously, we asked authors to submit for themselves on the bookclubs page, but we are working toward a more streamlined process now and this form will give us record of previous submissions, as well as a centralized location to collect information.
